Sand casting has a wide range of applications and is suitable for almost all parts production. For some large, single or small batch castings, manual styling is the first choice. However, its equipment investment is large, and it is used for shaped castings with mature technology. The crystal grains are coarse, and it is easy to cause segregation of tissues and components, and the surface roughness is large. Clay sand type is divided into wet sand type, dry sand type and surface drying sand type.
The advantage of metal casting is that it realizes one-type multi-casting and no-type sand treatment process, which greatly improves the productivity and facilitates mechanized production. Casting dimensional accuracy is high. Save production space, improve production environment, and save consumption of modeling materials.
And its limitations are:
1) The metal type has high manufacturing cost and long cycle, and is not suitable for single-piece and small-volume production.
2) The shape of the casting, especially the inner cavity, should not be too complicated.
3) The wall thickness should not be too thin, otherwise it will easily cause defects such as insufficient pouring.
4) When used to cast high melting point alloys such as cast steel, the metal type has a short life.
